
I totally agree with this protest initiated by the scholars of Colegiul National "Ferdinand I" Bacau.
They say that they do not want the voiceover translation of cartoons and they preffer the subtitles because the voiceacting in Romanian language is terrible and it takes away from the charm of the cartoons. Just imagine the famous saying of Tweety translated into Romanian... awful!
This also has a lot of side effects except the greatly deteriorated movie experience. In Europe all movies have voice overs and this is an important factor determining those people to be basically unable to understand any foreign language unless they learn it in school.
When you watch a movie, cartoon in the original language with subtitles you are also able, even if subliminal, to start to correlate certain foreign words with Romanian words and this will ease the learning and use of that foreign language.
